Description
Coming out of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and thinking we were done elk viewing for the day, we found the biggest herd just outside the entrance to the park. There were two huge bull elks competing for the affections of maybe 20 females. This one seemed to be the loser of the argument.
Earlier, a half dozen of the cows were making their way away from the herd and toward the street, when the other bull came down and herded them all back up to where the others were grazing. October is mating season for the elk and they can be heard near and throughout the town of Estes Park, Colorado.
