Description
Dia De Los Muertos, a huge holiday in Mexico is celebrated on November 1 and 2 and sometimes October 31 as well. Although an apparent cousin to the American holiday of Halloween, Dia is a joyful celebration involving family and friends gathering to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have died.
During this holiday one will see altars, called ofrendas, tall skeleton-like figures dressed in brightly colored costumes called catrinas, and brightly decorated skulls. Here you see a pristine vintage red Mercury behind one of the catrinas. This was taken on the Malecon (boardwalk) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
