I recently spent a few days in the Colorado mountain town of Mt. Crested Butte - just north of Crested Butte. I saw this view each time I drove between the two towns and vowed to stop and capture it with my camera before leaving the area. I got up before dawn on our last morning (very uncharacteristic of me) so I could capture this beautiful scene as the sun arose.
This photograph was captured on the north end of Crested Butte looking west over Coal Creek, which empties a few yards north of here into the Slate River. I believe the snow-capped peak in the background to be Mount Emmons, but am not sure.
