We stopped in Charleston, South Carolina to pick up a friend at the airport on our way to a week stay in Myrtle Beach, S.C. We had just enough time to explore downtown Charleston for 2 or 3 hours, and I would have given anything to have had much more time there. So much to see! Fascinating! The architecture is quite unlike anything we see in Colorado. I must revisit!
Saint Michael's Church sits on the corner of Meeting and Broad Streets. It's lofty steeple reaches 186 feet in height, with a weather vane that is 7 ½ feet long. It is is the oldest church edifice in the City of Charleston, standing on the site of the first Anglican Church built south of Virginia.
A small wooden church named St. Philip’s, built in the 1680s was the first inhabitant of the site. It was rebuilt in 1727 to accommodate larger groups of followers, and in 1835 burned down. Its current church was completed in 1861.
Thank you for visiting my galleries. I am an award-winning photographer and musician from metro Denver, Colorado. I have a deep love and appreciation for the great outdoors that is reflected in most of my photography. I am also enthralled with barns, vintage things, and anything else I find interesting or humorous. In addition to straight photography, I really enjoy playing in the digital realm to create beautiful photo paintings, also referred to as Paintography, or Digital Art. If you see anything in my gallery that interests you that you might prefer altered in any way - color, size, digital processing, or turned into a black and white, please don't hesitate to email me.
