OK, I admit it; I'm a tree-hugger. I am wildly in love with trees, always have been, always will be! I pass this magnificent cottonwood on my evening walks through Mayfair Park that runs behind my house in Broomfield, Colorado and I stop to admire it every time I see it. On this occasion I took a closer look and discovered what intricate patterns were woven in the bark.
Members of the Poplar family, Populus Deltoids, cottonwood trees are the fastest-growing trees in North America. They can grow 100 feet tall, adding up to 6 feet per year. The female trees produce seeds incased in cotton-like coverings that create a mess in the yard and create havoc for people who suffer from allergies. There are 3 different varieties of cottonwoods and black cottonwoods are the ones growing in the Rocky Mountains.

Thank you for visiting my galleries. I am an award-winning photographer and musician from metro Denver, Colorado. I have a deep love and appreciation for the great outdoors that is reflected in most of my photography. I am also enthralled with barns, vintage things, and anything else I find interesting or humorous. In addition to straight photography, I really enjoy playing in the digital realm to create beautiful photo paintings, also referred to as Paintography, or Digital Art. If you see anything in my gallery that interests you that you might prefer altered in any way - color, size, digital processing, or turned into a black and white, please don't hesitate to email me.
