Description
These multi-colored hens and chicks are on the front yard bank at my sister's new house in Portland, Oregon, which seems unusual given that succulents thrive in dry climates. succulents are drought resistant plants in which the leaves, stem or roots have become more than usually fleshy by the development of water-storing tissue. This image has been digitally enhanced using Topaz Impression to create this painterly effect. I did some research on these interesting plants and found this informative article on www.housebeautiful.com titled:
"10 Things You Never Knew About Succulents
1. Succulents originate from dry, desert locations.
2. They get their name from their thick, sap-filled leaves.

5. Generally, succulents are pest resistent.
6. You can use succulent cuttings to grow new plants.
7. Succulents are often confused for cacti.
