Description
I went to a new friend's house for the first time today and spotted this gorgeous flowering plant peeking out her living room bay window. I had never seen such a flower and asked her for more information. She told me it is a clivia, and I later discovered it is native to South Africa and Swaziland. Apparently it blooms once a year, like my amaryllis, and in fact, is in the subfamily Amaryllidoideae. Interestingly, during my research I discovered there is a Colorado Clivia Company in Denver, Colorado.
Clivia has taken 3rd Place in the Logo of the Month contest for May for the Exquisite Florals Group.
