Description
This cow (along with all her friends not pictured here) has a wonderful pasture in which to enjoy the gifts nature offers. She lives on a 100 year old dairy farm just outside Murphy, North Carolina. A friend and I walked as far into the field as we could go to get more close-ups of these animals in this beautiful setting.
Unbeknownst to us there was one bull hiding among the cows. He was NOT very happy to see us! We hi tailed it out of there, plotting which barbed wire fence we would hop over if the need arose. Neither one of us was in shape to be hopping over fences, but I told my friend I didn't have to outrun the bull - I just had to outrun her. I think she must have turned on her bovine charms because he finally stopped hollering at us and let us escape with our skin, (and pride) intact.
Wikipedia has this to say about this breed of cattle:
"Holstein Friesians (often shortened as Headers in Europe, and Holsteins in North America) are a breed of dairy cattle originating from the Dutch provinces of North Holland and Friesland, and what is now Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. They are known as the world's highest-production dairy animals."

Your photo painting series is truly beautiful, Lorraine. They have a silk-screen-like effect ( I used to do silk screen prints in a prior life so I really like the look). Nicely done! like/f
